As you tell me in your letter, I am persistent, as I need to be since otherwise our contract will not be fulfilled as agreed. You claim that cleaning was required of the counter top for $23.25 and $7. I would be surprised if further cleaning was required, since I paid a cleaning service to clean the house and have the receipts to show it. Furthermore you charge me $119.95 to clean the stove. Again, the stove was clean, but regardless, the stove was actually *mine*. If you check the lease you will see that the apartment was rented without any appliances - if you wish to charge me for the removal of the stove, then you are welcome to do that, but if you choose to keep it for the next tenants, as I expect you will, then charging me that much money to clean an already clean stove is preposterous. You charge $340 to replace the broken glass in the dining room. As I explained on my walk-through, and shall explain again, the large window in the dining room was broken when I moved in, as you can see if you look through our correspondence from when I first moved in and asked for it to be fixed to no avail. I take full responsibility for the smaller window, which would certainly not cost $340 to fix, as you can also note from your own walk-through paperwork, and shouldn't cost more than $70 or so in total to repair. You also include some large receipts for laundry detergent and rat pellets, though clearly these have nothing to do with my security deposit. I have no problem with the garage floor cleaning or the hauling and dumping charges. This gives a new total for damages of: Clean cement flooring $70.25 Replace broken window $70 Hauling and dumping $112 ---- $252.25 Which means the new amount owed is: Security Deposit Interest Credit, Security Deposit Less Back Rent or Credit $2921.48 Utilities owed and Damages $252.25 Total returned to you $2669.23 The amount you have returned to me so far is $1559.17, leaving a balance of $1110.06 Please send payment or respond within the next seven days so we can avoid further issue.
